Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving break typically consists of little sleep, lots of food, and even more SHOPPING! This year was a little different. I started vomiting after eating/drinking anything on Wednesday. This continued through Friday. Now, I did still attempt to shop (thinking this was all pregnancy related) BUT really did not shop as much as I normally do.  I was home and in bed by 1:30am on Black Friday morning...normally I am just getting started at that time considering stores didn't open until midnight.  I still got a few good buys. I was able to get my christmas tree and decorations and a couple of baby things!! That's right. I made the first baby purchase. I bought some UK socks, a UK bib, and 3 boxes of diapers. It's not much, but it is a start!

Saturday and Sunday I was so weak and dehydrated. It had been 3-4 days without anything staying in my system.  I called my doctor and she said if I would have called Friday while still puking I would have had to come in, but now I am recovering on my own and just need fluids and rest.  Now, I am able to eat small amounts and am keeping all food and liquids down. I am feeling better. Still don't have all energy, but I'm recovering!

One last note.....as long as the little one cooperates, we will find out the gender next Monday!!! I scheduled a gender ultrasound for Dec 3rd because I am ready to find out the gender and start on the nursery :)

Exciting news!!!!

So....what has life been like the past few months in the McInturf house? Very interesting!!!!

The beginning of September I started feeling nauseous all the time. Driving, smelling food, eating, sleeping....nothing changed it.  So on Saturday September 8th I decided to do something and here were the results...

That's right! I'm pregnant! It was a shock, but we are so excited for our little one!  I went to the doctor on Monday September 10th and got it confirmed. I was only 4 weeks at that point. In the beginning of October I went for my 8 week appointment and we had our first ultrasound.  We got to see our little baby and hear the heartbeat. What an amazing experience.  I got a little teary-eyed when I saw the heart flickering on the screen! Here is our baby 4 weeks ago.... (sorry it is sideways...I can't get it to turn)

Today we are officially 12 weeks and 3 days. I had an appointment and was able to hear the heartbeat on the fetal doppler.  The heartbeat was officially 153 and my uterus has moved out from behind the pelvic bone.  Everything is looking great so far.  Being pregnant is a great feeling, but I look forward to the 2nd trimester. I have been nauseous and puking since week 3 and I am more than ready for it to stop!

We are so excited to go on this journey and meet our little one!!! :)

Turbokick!

During my senior year at UK I took a cardio kickboxing class as a KHP. I loved it. Ever since then I have been looking for a class to start taking. FINALLY, I found one. The first week of June I happened across a few different websites that led me to theturbokickchick.com. I found out that the instructor, Rachel, teaches turbokick, hip hop hustle, and piyo all at the Tangos ballroom in Brannon Crossing. I decided to go try a class. The first class was amazing! It is a tough workout, but so much fun. Here is the definition of Turbokick from theturbokickchick.com....

"Each TurboKick workout or "round" utilizes elements of kickboxing, dance, hip hop, martial arts, and rhythm for a cardio/strength workout like you've never done. Unlike many group fitness workouts, TurboKick balances cardiovascular training with strength moves using only your own body weight to not only burn TONS of calories, but build lean muscle mass and increase your metabolism. Each round is uniquely and specifically choreographed to the latest hip-hop, pop, and funk music that creates a high-energy, party like atmosphere"

If you know me at all, you know that I don't stick to exercise plans very well. I will get an idea and stick to it for about 2 weeks. I have had several "mini workouts" of this fashion. I have tried the elliptical, treadmill, jogging, and even WiiFit.  I had the same results with all of them. I did great for the first 2 weeks and lost my motivation.  I decided to sign up for a month long membership with KY Fit Club to see if I could stay motivated to go.  Good news is that the month is up and I have attended consistently! I have been averaging at least 3-4 classes a week this entire month. It is an absolute blast! Rachel is so motivating and makes all new people feel welcome. The workout is intense, but I look forward to it daily.  My new goal is to continue taking at least 3-4 classes a week for the next 6 months (even when school starts back and my schedule gets more hectic).  I have only been attending the turbo classes, but in the future would like to expand and begin  piyo, hip hop hustle and the NEW p90x classes :)

IF you wanna a fun workout....check out the schedule and join me soon!!!

Pictures...Pictures....Pictures :)

SO....I finally decided to order prints from our wedding photos. Its only been a year...that's not too bad right? I spent Friday night looking through all the digital images and deciding which ones I wanted to display in our house. One good thing about waiting a year is that since I have looked at the pictures numerous times, I knew which ones I really loved and wanted to have copies of! Don't get me wrong...I still spent about 3-4 hours deciding on pictures and sizes, but I did it! The order was placed early Saturday morning and I got an email today saying the pictures have been shipped. I should have them by the beginning of next week at the latest!!!

Since I am talking about wedding pictures guess I can share this too.  Over the past few days I have been spending some time on pinterest to help get inspiration for pictures and house decorations.  I came across this wedding canvas and absolutely fell in love. It's easier to show than to describe so here it is... (from http://indulgy.com/post/UdnBNWC3M1/canvas-with-first-song-lyrics#/do/page/1)

canvas with first song lyrics by teri
I'm thinking about using an image from our first dance with the lyrics to our song.  I think it will be so amazing. Here is the picture I am wanting to use...let me know what you think. It would be in black and white instead of color like the one above. If you think color would look better help me decide on an image please!

1 Year Anniversary!!!

I'm so bad about blogging....life just happens and then I realize that it has been 2 months since I updated. Oh well. Maybe one day I will get better.

Jesse and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary last month. It's so hard to believe that we have been married that long. It seems like just yesterday I was trying to get last minute details together to say "I do".  I have yet to print wedding pictures and decorate our house....Again...maybe one day I will get better at things and get it done.  Our official anniversary was on a Monday.  Friday May 11th, Jesse and I got the privilege to stand by our best friends sides (Maggie and Coleman) as they got married at the same place they met 1 year earlier (our wedding venue).  It was fantastic to get to spend the weekend at the place where we started our journey as a family a year prior. I think I was more emotional that day than on our wedding day; simply because I wasn't as rushed and I could take in everything that was going on. I even snagged the photographers to get a picture of Jesse and I at the same place we said our vows last year! I can't wait to print that picture and place it beside our wedding photos. I think I would like to make that an annual tradition. It will be neat to see how or family grows/changes in the future. Here is the comparison so far!

On Saturday May 12th, Jesse and I went to Cincy to celebrate our 1 year.  We went to dinner at a great Mexican restaurant and then went to watch the Broadway play Les Mis.  It was a wonderful outing as hubby and wife! We ended the night by eating our 1 year anniversary cake and drinking a glass of wine from Castle Hill Winery!

Our actual anniversary was on Monday May 14th. We both had to work, but had planned to spend the evening together. The work-day went by uneventfully.  As I was leaving, I sent Jesse a text as usual, but he responded differently. He told me I needed to stay at work to "sweep the floor". I found out he had a surprise for me that hadnt been delivered yet.  I stayed at work late and finally after talking to the florist got the most beautiful set of roses that I have ever seen. They were shades of pink just like my wedding flowers! It was the first set of flowers that Jesse has ever given me and I loved them! That evening I cooked dinner, steak, potato, and salad. We ate dinner together and then looked at our wedding album.  It was nice to talk about our wedding pictures. We hadn't looked at them together since we got them back last June.  At 6:50pm we started our wedding video. This was exactly 1 year since our wedding started. It was scheduled for 6:30, but because of the rain was delayed a bit. I loved watching our wedding video 1 year later. So sweet and such a great way to celebrate our anniversary. Following the video, Jesse and I ate another piece of cake and finished the wine from Castle Hill Winery!

SO that was our 1 year anniversary celebration. Nothing too over the top, but just perfect enough for us!  Since then we have just been living life to the fullest. The school year has officially ended. I have completed KTIP and my CFY! I am just waiting for my official documents to come back from ASHA and Ky State Board in order to say that I am Tara McInturf, M.S. CCC-SLP!

It has been an exciting and eventful year spent with my wonderful husband! I can't wait to see what life has in store for us in our 2nd year of marriage!!!!

Spring Break 2012

My FIRST spring break as a school employee and not a student! YAY!

Saturday morning I woke up and went shopping with one of my good friends, Tracy.  We were shopping for a friends bridal shower that was going to be held at my house on Sunday.  We bought all the food and items for the games and were set for Sunday.  Then, I went home to change into my BLUE and head to Louisville.  This was the day of the UK/Louisville final 4 game and I was headed to Louisville to see Daughtry! Lori and I headed to Louisville. We watched the first half of the game on 4th street in a sea of red.  It was so much fun. During halftime we walked down the street to the Louisville Palace Theater for the concert. The opening acts were Mike Sanchez and Safety Suit. I had never heard of either one, but they were amazing.  Safety Suit spent more time singing in the crowd and taking pictures than he did on the stage. So much fun! During this time, I had ESPN pulled up on my phone to watch the 2nd half of the game...GO CATS! Between bands a "C...A....T...S" cheer broke out. Obviously we were not the only ones supporting the cats and watching the game on our phones! Look at our amazing seats!!!

THEN Daughtry hit the stage! The opening was a video of the band driving through town in their awesome car...only to break to this....

The concert was absolutely amazing! The band sounded better than ever and seemed to enjoy themselves.  Chris Daughtry stated that the crowd was the loudest of the tour so far and that he was loving Louisville! YAY! That means more concerts in KY in the future. Way to go KY fans...show Daughtry how much we love him :)  Songs on the playlist included songs from all 3 of his albums. I waited to hear "Rescue Me" off of the 3rd album, but it was not played. That just means I must go to future concerts to hear my new favorite song!! BUT he did play my favorite song off of the 2nd album...."September" Here it is.....

After a late night Saturday, I went to church on Sunday and rushed home to prepare for the bridal shower. Tracy met me at my house and we got everything together. The shower began at 2:30. It was a success. Emily had a blast and got lots of great gifts! Several UK things....GO CATS!!!

Monday night was the championship game! Jesse and I went  to his friend's apartment to watch the game. Afterwards we got caught in a mess of people and ended up on Limestone! It was insane. I loved seeing all the people. We got high-fives from every person we passed.  After having beer/champagne sprayed on us, we had to leave because Jesse had to work at 8am Tuesday morning. Here is a picture of the crowd...

The rest of the week was spent relaxing, shopping, shopping, and more shopping. I had dinner with Jennifer (my supervisor/fellow SLP) followed by walking around the mall on Tuesday and had a shopping day with Wendy (a classroom teacher) and her daughter on Thursday.  Friday was a work day to complete KTIP stuff. I was a procrastinator and didn't get all the KTIP stuff completed, but that's ok! I have 1 more week to get it done and KTIP is over YAY Me!!!!!

Well....that was my amazing week. Looking forward to many more spring breaks with NO plans :)

CATS CATS.....DAUGHTRY :)

Saturday is the Final 4. Big game here in KY with our beloved Wildcats vs. the Cards....Too bad I will not be watching the game.   I ordered tickets a few months back to see Daughtry (only the greatest band EVER) that night.  AND of course where is the concert??? IN Louisville! Oh well!

For those of you who know me, you know that my love of Daughtry is high...so off I will go.  Lori and I will head to Louisville, find a place to watch the first half of the game, then go to the concert. It will be a blast! OF COURSE I will be supporting the Cats and wearing blue. Please pray that I do not get beaten for having blue on in the red city. Also pray that Daughtry is a Wildcat fan. I know he knows KY basketball....but not so sure he is a fan.  A few years ago when Jesse and I were able to meet him in Nashville (Jesse was so wonderful and bought me backstage passes to one of his concerts. We met the band, took pictures, and watched sound check) Jesse wore a UK shirt and the band commented on that horrible UK vs. Duke game that is being overly advertised by UPS right now....BUT oh well...GO CATS!!!!
